Acarlar Floodplain Forest
This area, located between the Karasu and Kaynarca districts of Sakarya, is Turkey's largest contiguous floodplain forest (longoz). Protected as a first-degree natural site, this ecosystem offers the chance to discover rare plant species, water violets, and migratory birds along wooden walking paths. It is one of the most special spots in the area for a peaceful walk and photography in touch with nature.
Şile Castle
(Ocaklı Island Castle): This historic castle, thought to have been built by the Genoese and also used during the Ottoman period, is located on Ocaklı Island in a commanding position overlooking Şile Harbor. Recently restored, the castle is one of the district’s most iconic landmarks.
Green Tea (Ağva)
One of the rivers passing through both sides of Ağva, Yeşilçay is especially known for the restaurants, cafés, and boutique hotels along its banks. With boat tours on the river and its peaceful natural setting, it is one of the most popular places to relax in the area.
Culture Park
Situated right next to the Şile Lighthouse, this park, overlooking the sea, is a relaxation area for both locals and visitors. With walking paths and seating areas, it is ideal for spending time outdoors.
Ağlayankaya Scenic Overlook (Viewing Terrace)
This spot, which offers the opportunity to watch Şile’s rough Black Sea waves and unique coastline from above, provides a magnificent panorama for photography enthusiasts. It is especially one of the most beautiful locations preferred for watching the sunset.
Şile Lighthouse
Built in 1859, this historic structure is Turkey's largest lighthouse and the world's second-largest active lighthouse. Situated on a cliff overlooking the Black Sea, the lighthouse serves as a critical point for sailors and an exceptional viewing terrace for visitors. You can also explore the museum area next to it and enjoy the sea view in the surrounding park.
