Day 3 PRAGUE

After breakfast at the hotel, the entire day is free for shopping and sightseeing.

Those wishing can join an extra tour organized by our guide to Terezín Nazi Camp & Dresden (without meals). Terezín, which derives its name from Empress Maria Theresa and is located about 50 minutes from Prague, hosts the largest Nazi concentration camp in the Czech Republic. Built as a military barracks in 1780, it was converted into a Nazi concentration camp in 1940. About 33,000 people, including Jews, Roma, and dissidents, lost their lives here. During our Terezín Nazi Camp tour, we will visit the barracks where detainees stayed, communal showers, clinics, torture rooms, and the camp museum. We will also see the cell where Gavrilo Princip, the Serbian nationalist who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and triggered World War I, died. Then, we will visit Dresden, Germany, known as the “Florence on the Elbe,” one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, which was almost destroyed during three days of bombings in World War II but was reborn from its ashes. Today, Dresden features some of the most impressive examples of Baroque architecture. During our city tour, we will see the Semper Opera House, Zwinger Palace, Dresden Cathedral, Royal Palace, Tree of Life, Courthouse, Bruhl Terrace, Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), and the statue of Martin Luther. After the tour, there will be free time for shopping and sightseeing in this enchanting city listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the late afternoon, we return to Prague and have free time.
