Meeting our valued guests at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Departure to Sarajevo on Pegasus Airlines' scheduled flight. Upon arrival in Sarajevo, we will board our private bus for a city tour. At the start of the tour, we will disembark from the bus in front of the central library, one of the city's iconic landmarks, and begin our walking city tour. After seeing the Inat Kuca, whose story will surely surprise you, the Latin Bridge built during the Ottoman period, and the site where Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and his wife were shot—an event that triggered World War I—we will proceed to Baščaršija, the heart of the city. Our tour continues through Sebilj Square, named after the historic fountain (sebil), a tradition of the Ottoman Empire, and then along the streets of Baščaršija, which have preserved their historical character. Other sights include Kuršumli Madrasa, Morića Han, Gazi Hüsrev Bey Mosque, and the Clock Tower. The tour will continue along Ferhadija, the city's most popular street, featuring buildings reflecting Austro-Hungarian architecture, the Catholic Cathedral, Markale Market, and the covered bazaar, concluding at the Eternal Flame Monument dedicated to the victims of World War II. After the tour ends, there will be free time, followed by transfer to our hotel and check-in.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, guests who wish may join the extra Mostar & Blagaj tour with lunch.
Mostar & Blagaj Tour (70 Euro per person)
We make our first stop in the town of Konjiç (Konyitz). Here we see the famous Konjiç (Konyitz) bridge, which has stood from the Ottoman era to the present day and was restored by Turkey. Continuing our journey along the Neretva River, we take a coffee break and enjoy the beautiful views of the river. Further along, on the Jablanica (Yablanitza) road, we view panoramic scenes of the Nazi train sabotaged by Partisan soldiers during World War II and the destroyed bridge, then continue our way toward Blagaj. Upon arrival, we visit the Alperens Dervish Lodge, which has been in existence for 550 years. The lodge is situated slightly inland from the main road, built beside water emerging from beneath a very high and magnificent rock, founded in the early 16th century. Throughout its history, it has hosted followers of the Qadiri, Rufai, Halveti, and Nakshbandi Sufi orders. (Guests who wish may visit the lodge.) After visiting the lodge, we have lunch and continue our journey toward Mostar. From the historic Mehmet Bey Mosque, one of the enduring and unspoiled monuments of the Old Town, we view the historic Mostar Bridge, then visit the bridge itself. Built to allow the Ottoman army to cross during Sultan Suleiman's final campaign against Zsigmond (Zigetvar), this bridge was destroyed by Croat forces during the war in 1993, later restored to its original form by a Turkish company. After visiting the Small Mostar Bridge and strolling through the bazaar, we depart for our hotel in Sarajevo. Overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, guests who wish may join the extra lunch tour to Travnik.
Travnik Tour (70 Euro per person)
Travnik, known as the "City of Viziers" because it provided the most viziers to the Ottoman Palace during the Ottoman Empire period, is a city that has managed to preserve its Ottoman character even today. Our tour will begin by visiting the Ibrahim Pasha Madrasa, established during the Ottoman era and still operational today; other sites we will see include Lutfina Kahva, which has been operating for 400 years, Plava Voda, the water source where Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror performed his ablutions, Süleyman Pasha Mosque, one of the two Alaca Mosques in the Balkans, and the historic Travnik Fortress, built on a hill overlooking the city and serving as an important strategic point during the recent civil war. After having lunch at a local restaurant, there will be free time. We will meet at the time set by our guide and transfer back to our hotel in Sarajevo.
In the evening, guests who wish may join the extra Bosnian Night tour.
