We first visit Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, the capital of the Vojvodina region located in northern Serbia. After a photo break with the magnificent view of Novi Sad from the fortress, we proceed to the city center. During our walking tour in this city where Albert Einstein also lived for some time, the Freedom Square, Svetozar Miletić Statue, Catholic Cathedral, Orthodox St. George Cathedral, St. Nicholas Church and Synagogue will be seen panoramically. After our tour, we set off to visit the town of Sremski Karlovci (Karlofça), which also holds an important place in our history. The town, whose history dates back to 7000 BC and has always held an important place in history, was home to the first Serbian middle school and high school. In Karlovci, which served as the center of the Serbian Orthodox Church until 1922, other sights we will see include the city council, Catholic Church, and the Four Lions Fountain. The town also holds an important place in Ottoman history due to the Treaty of Karlowitz dated 1699, which is considered the beginning of the decline period of the Ottoman Empire and the first treaty where significant territories were lost. We also visit the Chapel of Peace located on the hill where the treaty was signed. After the free time given here, we conclude our tour.
After the breakfast we will have at our hotel, guests who wish can additionally join the Nikola Tesla Museum & Tito's Memorial Tomb and Zemun tour.
Nikola Tesla Museum & Tito's Memorial Tomb & Zemun Tour - (70 Euro per person)
In this tour, we first visit the Nikola Tesla Museum. The Nikola Tesla Museum, dedicated to the inventor of alternating current and Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla, was established in 1952. In this museum, over 160,000 original documents telling about Tesla's work and life, more than 2,000 books and magazines, as well as many photographs, drawings, plans, and instruments are exhibited. To highlight the scientist's contributions to technology, interactive presentations are also held in addition to this collection in the museum. Then, we visit the tomb of former Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito, who was elected President of Yugoslavia on January 13, 1953, turned Yugoslavia into a Socialist Federal Republic, was appointed president for life in 1974, and passed away in 1980. The memorial tomb is located in a white sarcophagus in the center of a single-story building called the House of Flowers. Here, excerpts from Tito's life and some of his personal belongings are also exhibited. Finally, we set off to go to Zemun. Throughout history, Zemun remained autonomous and today it is part of New Belgrade; it feels like a different city within the city. Located on the banks of the Danube River, opposite Belgrade Fortress, this city is home to Usce Fortress, Gardoš Hill, and Gardoš Tower. Architecturally, the area carries Austrian influences, with cobblestone streets and narrow alleys, making it a pleasant place to spend time.
